TIMELINE
SpaceVision is a professional annual convention of SEDS chapters from around the United States to present their research, listen to guest industry experts, and explore potential career futures in aerospace. This upcoming SpaceVision is being held in Washington, DC at American University from November 9th - 11th.
The University Rover Challenge (URC) aims to expose students to designing and testing a martian rover that is capable of completing manned and autonomous missions. Currently, this our primary long-term project.
The decision to focus this year's objective on CubeSat validation is with the idea of designing a system that mimics the function of a CubeSat. This would be done by constructing three key areas:
-
Attitude determination and control
-
Power
-
Computing
After the completion of this testing rig, we will then simulate a CubeSat launch by utilizing a Space Balloon to experiment with the design. This data and observation will be the framework for future and more complex launches.
-
The Testing rig will be represented as a weather balloon system that will encompass avionics development, structures, payload, and recovery. It will serve as the foundational element for being able to create more elaborate research projects and eventually the CubeSat.
